Neither Clinton nor Obama can get the necessary earned delegates.?

Since neither Clinton nor Obama can get the necessary minimum number (2025, or 2209 counting MI & FL) of earned delegates to mandate the nomination of one of them, doesn't that render the earned delegate count moot? Doesn't that mean that the Democratic electorate is so split that it will take the Super Delegates (professional and politically savvy party members) to yze the other factors in order to come up with a nominee (i.e., who leads the popular vote, who has won the most important states for the general election, who is most likely to beat the Republican candidate, and who, according to the polls, already has won the most electoral votes)? If that is the case, despite the ravings about delegate numbers from all the pundits, doesn't it appear that the only viable nominee is Hillary Clinton?
